There will be a “Blue Moon” shining above this New Year’s Eve, and we can’t think of a better time to take stock of our connections, and try new things.

The full moon on December 31 in the United States, Canada, Europe, South America and Africa, will be the second of the month. Traditionally, that second full moon is called “Blue.” It only happens once every couple of years. Don’t let the technical explaination lessen the more romantic ideas a “Blue Moon” conjures up. It’s the perfect excuse to wrap up the last day of the first decade of a new Millennium with a little self reflection.

Call it a cosmic sign to stop and take note.

After all, when you hear something happens once, “… in a Blue Moon,” you know that means it’s rare, unique and special. It doesn’t happen often. You need to pay attention, to react, to be just a little better or different than what is normal. It is special.

So, this year, the New Year is a perfect time to decide:

What needs to go: Bad feelings? Bad decisions? A bad hair-do?

What is it time to let in: Good habits? Good family or friends? Good connections?

How are you going to get there: Counseling? Positive thoughts? A new board game?

The New Year is a connector by nature. It is something we all celebrate, regardless of our religion, race, age or nationality. We may have many differences, but at one moment when the clock strikes Midnight – time connects us all with the joy of hope for new beginnings.

That’s what makes the New Year a particularly joy-filled time for us at Do Tell. We know that new beginnings can start with simple questions, small risks and sometimes silly little shared actions. That’s why we created the game. It’s easy, and even if it’s been a “Blue Moon” since you played a board game, we promise you’ll get the hang of it. You don’t need any special skill, except the ability to be you.

Who knows what 2010 will hold? Maybe for you, it will bring the start of a new relationship with the teen who seems to have grown increasingly distant. Maybe it will provide an opportunity to reach out to a long-lost relative or friend. Maybe it will just give you the time to have friends over more often, and get connected with new people in a new way.

When you tune in to these posts you might find something new too. Yes, we’ll still be selling a board game, but our resolution for the new year is to help you focus on new ways to connect with those you love, finding new joy in the relationships you already have as well as those you are destined to make.

So, kick out the old, welcome the new, and join us on a journey to make 2010 the year you connect to others like never before.
